Altamont Veterans Work Together in Blood Drive

On August 2, Boyd Hilton VFW Post 7062 and Helderberg American Legion Post 977 jointly sponsored a Memorial Blood Drive for the American Red Cross.  The support from both these Veteran's organization and the surrounding community were more than anyone expected.
 
The outpouring from the community prompted the American Red Cross to bring in extra personnel and equipment to meet the demand.
 
In total, 60 donors registered and 54 units were collected.  According to the Red Cross Representative, this will result in saving 162 lives.
 
 The American Red Cross Account Manager shared in an e-mail to both Post Representatives:  
 
"I do not know where to begin but Thank You for allowing myself and the Red Cross to be part of yesterday’s event, I was truly moved by everyone there!"
 
As the success of this event highlights what our Veteran Organization can do when we work together, this will be become an annual event within the community.
