From the Commander

As we press on with the work with VFW, November is looking like a very important month for our Post. We have many activities that will be going on, and it’s a first for the post in many years. Our first fundraisers in many years -- November 8th at Habit Burger and November 22nd at Blaze Pizza. They will be hosting our event, so come on down and bring the flyer that you will may have received as an email -- if not, check on the Post website, & EVENTS/ANNOUNCEMENTS/Habit Burger Event and Blaze Pizza Event to download them. Copy and give out to friends, neighbors, and tell them to join our post for a fantastic burger and great pizza, and fellowship with our veterans help us raise money for the post and all wonderful programs we support.

Secondly, Buddy Poppies, November 9th and 10th. We will be standing at Walmart on Folsom Blvd, Rancho Cordova Post Office, and Sportsman’s Warehouse on Sunrise Blvd. You know how important Buddy Poppies are to the Post, so, tell a friend and tell them to stop by and say hello.

Let’s not forget November 11th Veterans Day Observance at Mather VA (see flyer on our website, & EVENTS/ANNOUNCEMENTS/Rancho Cordova Veterans Day Observance. We will be hosting this event, like be we have been for years. Activities will start a 10:00am, please show up in business attire with VFW cap. Let’s show up and show the community that we are united and are strong in numbers.

We have having our Christmas party on December 10th at 1600 to 1900 at the Moose Lodge. You’ll find the application sheet on the post website, & EVENTS/ANNOUNCEMENTS/CHRISTMAS PARTY. Please download, review, and fill out, and mail to

before the November 21st deadline.

Lastly, I need to say that we have two of our senior members that is are doing a wonderful job collecting and storing furniture for veterans that were homeless but have found a home. Frank and Dana have been spearheading this for over a year. They collect and move to storage furniture that they will then delivery it to veterans that have been placed in a home. They do this for free. Now, this has been going on for some time, and they need help from you and any other organizations that can provide manpower and time. No fewer than 40,000 Veterans have been experiencing homelessness and just over 13,000 were unsheltered/on the street. Our job is to help our fellow veterans, and this is one program you really be a part of and continue with gift giving. If you have time and would like to donate money for the use of storage or assist with the collection, storage, and delivery of the furniture, please contact Frank Squire at or Dana Johnson at I hope to see you and your loved ones at our upcoming events.
