To qualify for membership in the VFW you MUST meet the following TWO requirements:

 

1: Honorable Service – must have served in the Armed Forces of the United States and either received a discharge of Honorable or General (Under Honorable Conditions) or be currently serving.

 

2: Service in a war, campaign, or expedition on foreign soil or in hostile waters*. This can be proven by any of the following:

  • An authorized campaign medal (see a full list of qualifying medals and badges)
  • Receipt of Hostile Fire Pay or Imminent Danger Pay (verified by a military pay statement)
  • Service in Korea for 30 consecutive or 60 non-consecutive days

 

*This information is usually available through a veteran’s DD-214. If other information is needed or if a veteran’s DD-214 is not complete, they can contact the National Personnel Records Center online or at 314.801.0800 to request more information.

If you are not eligible for membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars but you have a parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, sibling, or spouse who would be eligible then you may apply for membership in the VFW Auxiliary. You can learn more at vfwauxiliary.org.

The post was formed and installed on March 1988 with 35 members

The post meets at the Moose Lodge at 10124 Coloma Road on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Meeting time is 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm

No. Only the name badge ( if you have one ) and the VFW Hat are worn at post meetings - plus your regular clothing.

National HQS will provide you with a monthly magazine. State HQS has an online newspaper for your access. This website (vfw10125.org) is frequently updated with current topics and publications.

The post is growing each month. We have over 400 members, the vast majority of which are life members,

Currently there are 3 yearly social activities:

  • October picnic at Hagen Park
  • Holiday season dinner in early December
  • Year-end Awards dinner held in the last week of June or early July

No. That is a future goal of the Post. Each year, if possible, we add to the building fund.

Our post is unique in that we have been an all-state post 23 of the 29 years that we have been in existence. In 2001 we received the great honor of being named an 'All-American Post' - and again in 2009 and 2020.  In 2006 we were the top all-state post in the state. In 2007, we were one of the top posts in the state. We were the top post for 2008 & shared the top spot in 2009.In 2010, we were the only post out of 333 posts to get the maximum Points and complete all of the Programs. We have a good group of experienced officers.

Yes, to both questions. A statement in approx. 80,000 posts of account or the budget is available for your review upon joining the post. The books are always open to any post member.

Whether you're active-duty or retired from the military, you are eligible to join if you meet our eligibility requirements.

Subscription dues are just like a magazine subscription. It gives you 365 days of membership in the VFW. With this being the first year that they are coming into effect it will be a process that we are not use to. The basic breakdown of what is going to happen is:

If you are an annual member and you pay your dues before January your expiration will be January of the following year. If you pay after that date whatever day your dues are processed at National will be the new expiration date. Example would be that you send in your dues to National on the first of February and National processed them on the fifteenth of February. Your new expiration date would be the fifteenth of February the next year.
